Bebot

The Bebot is North Carolina's first robotic beach sweeper.

Keep New Hanover County Beautiful did a post-holiday weekend beach cleanup at the Hamlet Ave Beach Access in Carolina Beach.

I went to the demonstration and met Dick and Hunter from Keep New Hanover Beautiful. They were so nice. They even let me drive the Bebot!

Let me tell you what I learned.

BeBots are beach screening robots that screen sand 1-4" below the surface. They were created in France.

​It targets waste and debris that is sifted and collected.

The Bebot is fully controlled by a handheld remote. They are 100% electric.

It does not contribute to erosion, does not disturb wetlands, dunes or nesting areas. It is operated on dry sand only. 

It has a battery life of up to 3 hours. 

It was pretty cool!

Keep New Hanover Beautiful is an environmental non-profit based in Wilmington, North Carolina. Their programs and projects are solely funded through grants and donations.
